In response, Real Sociedad made a substitution: in the 67th minute A. Barreneccea replaced A. Zakharyan. Sevilla continued to strive for victory and in the 73rd minute introduced L. Bade and D. Lukebakio to strengthen the attack.
In the 75th minute Real Sociedad also made two substitutions: B. Turrientes replaced U. Sadik and M. Oyarzabal replaced M. Merino. The tension of the game increased when in the 78th minute H. Traore received a yellow card for Real Sociedad, and in the 82nd minute Sevilla's S. Ramos received a yellow card. In the 84th minute Real Sociedad made two final substitutions: T. Kubo and H. Traore replaced M. Cho and A. Elustondo respectively. The tension on the pitch reached its peak in the 88th minute when Sevilla's S. Ramos was sent off after receiving a red card. Soon his team-mate J. Navas also received a red card, leaving Sevilla with nine men. In the final minutes of the game, Sevilla tried to salvage a point by bringing on L. Ocampos and Fernando as the last players in the 90th minute. However, Real Sociedad defended staunchly, giving Sevilla no chance to equalise. The final whistle blew as Real Sociedad claimed a 2-1 victory. This match showed resilience and the ability to stand firm, especially in the face of Sevilla's late onslaught. This victory strengthened Real Sociedad's position in the La Liga standings and gave them confidence in tomorrow.
