It's official! Ukrainian referees will work at Champions League matches for the first time in 25 years: details

The Ukrainian team of referees has been appointed for the Champions League group stage match between Real Sociedad and Salzburg to be held on 29 November in San Sebastian.

According to UEFA's official website, Nikolay Balakin will be the main referee of the match. The assistant referees will be: Oleksandr Berkut and Dmytro Zaporozhenko. The fourth referee will be Yaroslav Kozik.

It will be recalled that the last time Ukrainian referees worked at a Champions League match, which took place back in 1998. At the match in Bilbao between Spanish Athletic and Norwegian Rosenborg, Vasyl Melnychuk was the chief referee.
