The Portuguese Al-Nasra striker may be held liable through a class action lawsuit in Florida, the United States of America, Cointelegraph reports.
According to the source, the class action lawsuit states that Binance, in cooperation with Ronaldo, "attracted investments in unregistered securities", which caused the plaintiffs to suffer losses.
The lawsuit also states that Ronaldo "should have known that Binance was trading in unregistered cryptocurrency securities, as he has investment experience and vast resources to engage external advisors". The plaintiffs are seeking damages and legal costs.
Interestingly, Binance previously pleaded guilty to improper execution of transactions and violation of sanctions in the execution of these transactions. Binance Holdings agreed to pay a fine of USD 4.3 billion as part of the settlement agreement.
