"It's a bit of a shock for us": Niva head coach Zhabchenko's reaction to the team's relegation from the first league

The head coach of Niva Buzova, Ihor Zhabchenko, confirmed that the club was closing for the duration of the war in Ukraine.

Igor Zhabchenko

- Igor Valentynovych, is it true that Niva Buzova is shutting down?

- Yes, unfortunately, it is true.

- Was this decision of the club president unexpected for you?

- Of course, we didn't expect it, but Niva president Oktay Efendiyev decided to allocate money to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. When the war is over, he will resume the club's activities. This is his decision. It hurts, but we accept it because the war is going on in the country and we understand everything.

- In general, were there any talks before that that this could happen?

- No, everything was fine. Of course, it's a bit of a shock for all of us. Both for the players and the coaching staff, but the president made this decision and we have to support and accept it. He has always helped the Armed Forces of Ukraine and continues to do so, but he also did everything for the club so that we would not need anything.
