As the match approached the final stages, tensions mounted, leading to a yellow card for Brentford's K. Norgaard in the 81st minute. But Brentford had the final say as N. Maupay made his fourth substitution in the 90th minute, replacing M. Pirt-Harris. When the half-time whistle sounded, Brentford were deserved winners. An effective attack and solid defence were the deciding factor in the clash between the two teams. Luton fought valiantly, but in the end failed to pick up a single point.
