Diaz struck the opponent's goal, putting his team ahead. The teams went into the break with the score at 1:0, wanting to turn the tide. Real Madrid continued to dominate the game and their persistence paid off in the 57th minute when Rodrigo scored a superb goal to increase their lead to 2-0.
The Granada team tried to turn the tide of the match and made two substitutions in the 64th minute, bringing on M. Uzuni instead of S. Weissman and V. Manafa instead of N. Petrovic. Real Madrid also made a substitution in the 70th minute, replacing Joselu with D. Seballos. As the game progressed, tension grew and in the 77th minute Granada's G. Gumbau received a yellow card. Granada tried to save the match with two late substitutions in the 83rd minute, bringing on L. Boye instead of A. Puertas and B. Zaragoza instead of A. Fernandez. Zaragoza instead of A. Fernandez. Real Madrid responded with a third substitution: in the 85th minute, Rodrigo was replaced by G. Garcia. The final minutes of the match saw more changes: in the 88th minute Real Madrid replaced B. Dias with N. Paz, while Granada made no further substitutions. Despite their best efforts, Granada were unable to close the gap in the score, and the match ended 2-0 in favour of Real Madrid. Both teams showed their skills and fought hard throughout the game, but it was Real Madrid who emerged victorious at their home ground, the Santiago Bernabeu.
