Former Dynamo Kyiv head coach Mircea Lucescu summarised the results of yesterday's draw for the final part of Euro 2024 in the context of the prospects of his country's national team - Romania, which fell into Group E to Belgium, Slovakia and the winner of Pathway B of the European Championship qualification play-offs (Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Israel, Iceland).
"It's a very balanced group. Our group is a strong group. It is balanced. I can't say it's the strongest, but it's balanced.
I hope Romania will continue the upward trend in terms of performance football and manage to beat Slovakia. Belgium is a strong team in recent years. The most difficult fight will be with them. I think that the players of the Romanian national team have gained a lot of confidence in the matches of the qualifying cycle of Euro-2024, they have formed as a strong team. No one in this team stood out individually, but this team is competitive. Therefore, we can be optimistic. I am convinced that the Romanian team will be fine at this European Championship.
As for the fourth representative of our group, I will say that the Ukraine national team is a very strong team, it has gained special experience, because since the beginning of the war all matches were played away. And I think that Ukraine have the best chances to get into our group," Lucescu said on air on ProTV.
