English coach Frank Lampard is close to taking over as head coach of MLS football club Charlotte, The Athletic reports.
"Charlotte is nearing the end of its selection process as it seeks to have a new head coach in place by the end of December, ahead of the start of pre-season training in early January. Last season, the club finished 9th in the Eastern Conference and lost to the New York Red Bulls in the first round of the playoffs (2-5).
In his coaching career, Lampard has led Chelsea, Everton and Derby County. He finished his career as a player in the MLS at New York City FC.
