Kryvbas coach Vitaliy Vernidub commented on the result of the match of the 17th round of the Ukrainian championship against Luhansk "Zorya" (2:2).
Vitaliy Vernidub- The game left mixed impressions. We were winning 2-0, but we missed the victory. A draw with a bitter taste. We are focused on achieving our goals. The main thing now is to have a good rest and prepare properly for the second half of the season in winter.
- In the first half, with the score at 1-0, the referee awarded a penalty. Then cancelled his decision after consultation with colleagues on VAR. What do you think about it?
- I wouldn't like to comment on the referee's actions, because he makes the decision. Yes, of course, somewhere he makes mistakes, somewhere he makes the right decisions. In this game it is not the most important thing. We had some problems today, we failed to correct them.
- Do you agree that Kryvbas lost two points today, because they had enough chances?
- There is such a thing. But it's still from what side to look at this match. After all, the end was for Zorya, you can say so. We had to close the game, because there were chances, yes. We need to work further to realise our chances, not to lose points. The most important thing for us now is to prepare mentally, because when you are fighting for high places, it is a very big psychological load.
- You played in "Zorya", some of our other players also. And Yuriy Nikolaevich spent many years there as a head coach. Does this confrontation still have some principality for you?
- It still does. After all, by and large, this is my home team. I have given a lot to Zorya. I worry about them when they play on the European arena. I wish them success. Indeed, it is a strong opponent, there are great players in the squad. I am sure that "Zorya" will correct the situation that they have now.
- If you briefly summarise the first half of the season, how much would you rate Kryvbas on a 10-point scale?
- I would not like to evaluate, because there is a head coach for that. If you are interested in my opinion, we showed ourselves well. "Kryvbas" is going step by step, but we still have a lot of work ahead of us.
