It's official. Women will have a new Champions League format from the 2025/26 season: one league for 18 teams

According to UEFA's official website, the UEFA Women's Champions League will be organised in a radically new format from the 2025/26 season.

This European Cup tournament will now be represented by a single league with 18 teams. According to UEFA, this format will make the Champions League a more competitive and dynamic tournament.

The total number of matches in the new Women's Champions League will remain unchanged, but the top teams will now face each other more often and will have a wider choice of opponents. According to the new format, each team will play six matches against different opponents (three home and three away). To determine these six teams will be allocated to three baskets according to their UEFA club coefficients.

During the new Women's Champions League, a classic standings (three points for a win, one for a draw and none for a defeat) will be formed. At the end of the tournament, the top four teams will directly qualify for the quarter-finals, while the teams ranked from 5th to 12th will form a play-off round for the right to get the remaining four tickets to the 1/4 finals.
