Famous Ukrainian coach Anatoliy Chantsev shared his impressions of yesterday's confrontation between Zorya and Breidablik in the Conference League.
- Everything was predictable. "Breidablik is a priori weaker than Zorya, and there were additional circumstances in favour of the Luhansk side.
- What do you mean?
- The Icelandic championship ended in early October, and all this time Breidablik players were keeping fit for the sake of three matches in the Conference League. Of course, the Icelanders were not at their best. After a quick goal by Guerrero and an auto-goal by the visitors' player in the 11th minute, the fate of the match was already decided. The visitors were already on holiday in their minds, making mistakes in simple situations. However, when the score became overwhelming, they wanted to score a goal of prestige, and slightly increased the turnover, but they failed to do so. Although the defence of the nominal hosts was again not blameless.
The Luhansk side won deservedly, as they say, slamming the door goodbye. It seemed that acting head coach Yuriy Koval chose the optimal lineup, using Mishnev and Michin in the middle of the pitch.
- How would you rate Zorya players for the current European Cup campaign?
- Unsatisfactory. At least in the Conference League they should have qualified for the next round. I think that the Luhansk side were not psychologically ready for European Cup battles. That's why they let their opponents, who were not superior in terms of preparation, get ahead of them.
- They say that misfortune does not walk alone: Zorya are not doing well in the domestic arena.
- I would hate to see such an original team as Zorya lost. Still, the last matches of the Luhansk side give reason to hope that the worst - the departure from the UPL - will not come to the worst. A lot will depend on the next decisions of the club management: who will lead Zorya on a permanent basis, what will be the vector of development.
