Gabriele Gravina, President of the Italian Football Federation, has commented on the national team's entry into Euro 2024.
Gravina was asked whether, after the disallowed penalty against the Italians in the final Euro 2024 qualifying match against the Ukrainians, Italy had become a greater enemy of Ukraine than Russia.
"Are you kidding? The first person to congratulate us was Andriy Shevchenko, a friend with whom I have been in direct contact for many years. He knows who we are and wholeheartedly appreciates what the Italian federation is doing and will do for the Ukrainian people.
We deserved the result in that match, just as we rightly deserved to get out of the group, which no one is talking about, but it was the hardest with 4 strong teams.
An unassigned penalty for Ukraine? Reducing the performance to one episode seems to me to be pure masochism. Not giving due credit to the qualification is disrespectful to the Italian national team," Gravina said.
