The football season in Ukraine has gone on a winter break, so it's time to analyse the first half of the season for Dynamo thanks to data from Wyscout.

General indicators

The Premier League has played 17 rounds out of 30, with Dynamo playing just 14 matches (just like Zorya, who played the fewest matches of all the league participants) and tied with Shakhtar for the fewest points lost.

At the same time, the White and Blues went into the winter break in 5th place in the standings. In 14 matches, Dynamo won 9 matches, drew once (like Chornomorets, the fewest in the league) and lost 4 times. Dynamo is 6 points behind Kryvbas and Dnipro-1, who are in first and second place respectively, having played three fewer matches.

Goals

Despite having played fewer matches than most of its rivals, Dynamo is the most prolific scorer in the league, having scored 33 goals.

Interestingly, the xG indicator of expected goals of the Kyiv team almost coincides with the actual number of goals and is 33.7. Dynamo also leads the league in this indicator.

In terms of xG against (expected goals conceded ), Dynamo is second only to Dnipro-1, with 14.3. At the same time, in terms of actual goals conceded (18), the White and Blues share 6-7 places with LNZ.

In terms of expected xPoints (30 ), Dynamo is the second team in the league (Dnipro-1 has 31).

Out of the 33 goals scored by Dynamo, 2 goals were the result of long shots (6%), 4 were the result of counterattacks (12%), 4 goals were scored as a result of set pieces (12%), and 6 were scored after direct free kicks and penalties (18%).

Dynamo scored more often in the first half than in the second, with the most productive 15 minutes being the final 15 minutes of a game (including stoppage time).

Ball possession and passing

In terms of percentage of ball poss ession, Dynamo is the third team in the league with 55.4% (Shakhtar - 58.7%, Dnipro-1 - 57.2%). On average, the team held the ball for 16.8 seconds (Shakhtar and Dnipro-1 held it longer).

Dynamo ranks seventh in terms of the number of dribbling attempts - 23.16 on average per game, while Kyiv are the best in the league in terms of their efficiency - 62% successful.

On average, Kyiv lost the ball 82.19 times per match (Shakhtar and LNZ lost the ball less), most often in the last third of the pitch (51%), less often in the second third (32%), and least often in the first third (16%).

Dynamo's interceptions rate is one of the lowest in the league - 30.97 on average per game, with only Chornomorets having a lower rate.
