The first part of the season is over. The teams have been on holiday for almost a month. Transfer rumours are gaining momentum. I very much doubt that Dynamo will be active in the transfer market this winter. I don't expect any sales or acquisitions. Perhaps one player will leave if we receive a really interesting offer. The bet will be on those players who were in the first round, plus the youth.
None of the loaned players proved to be particularly good. But there can be so-called loan cancellations. "Anderlecht did not want to extend the loan of Justin Lonewijk. According to media reports, the Dutchman will return to Denmark to play for Brondby. There is something wrong with this Lonwijk. Despite his good footballing ability (ball handling, anthropometry, shot, versatility), he can't stay in any team for long.
Another newcomer in the autumn of 2022, Kahim Perris, remained a bit in the shadows. In the summer, he left for Sabah, where he replaced Oleksiy Kashchuk. Perris could not repeat the success and effectiveness of the Ukrainian winger. He started to lose the competition. There is no failure, because out of 14 matches, Kahim played in 12 and spent more than 700 minutes on the pitch. But during this time, he had only one assist. Last season, Kashchuk scored 16 goals for Sabah in 31 matches of the Azerbaijani league. Expectations from Perris in Azerbaijan were definitely higher.
In the autumn of 2022, Dynamo suffered a series of injuries. It became clear that Viktor Tsygankov would leave in the winter. His agents had already spoken to Dynamo's managers about leaving the club. We had to strengthen our squad. We found Kahim Perris from the Jamaican national team in Slovenia. Mircea Lucescu did not give the winger a chance to prove himself. If the Jamaican came on, it was for a few minutes. Everything changed in the spring, when Oleksandr Shovkovskyi became acting manager. It turned out that Kahim knows how to play football. He played a great match against Oleksandriya. We just had to find an approach to him.
Now Shovkovskyi is a full-fledged coach in the team. Lucescu is no longer. Perris' business in Azerbaijan is not going well. Foreigners are always expected to do more than locals. Dynamo are not completely sure about their wingers. The team finished the first half of the season with Nazariy Voloshin and Vladislav Kabaev. Both lack stability. There is also the all-rounder Oleksandr Karavayev and the talent of Samba Diallo. Andriy Yarmolenko is seriously injured. It is not yet clear whether he will be able to recover and get fit for the start of the second round. Plus, the prospects at the age of 34 do not look promising.
Shovkovskyi knows the approach to Perris. The Jamaican is already adapted to the UPL and life in Ukraine. There is no need to pay anything, because the player is under contract at the club. I think that Sabah will not keep him much.
In order to compete for the championship, there must be depth in the squad. Competition is important for players to progress. Therefore, the option of Perris' return does not seem unrealistic.
Of course, there is no racketeering war in Azerbaijan, no shahedis. In terms of security, everything is fine there. But in terms of football, Sabah cannot be compared to Dynamo in terms of career development and opportunities.
