The match of the 17th round of the Spanish championship between Sevilla and Getafe (0:3) was the last for coach Diego Alonso at the helm of the Andalusian club.
Just a few hours after the match, Sevilla officially announced the dismissal of their coach: "We would like to inform you that Diego Alonso has been relieved of his duties as first-team head coach. We thank him for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future."
Since Alonso's appointment in October, Sevilla have won just two La Liga matches and are now near the relegation zone. Earlier this week, they also crashed out of the Champions League, finishing last in their group.
