On 59 minutes a penalty was awarded, which was confidently realised by A. Dovbik, scoring his second goal of the match. Alaves were desperate to get back into the game, making two quick substitutions in the 61st minute.
L. Rioja replaced A. Rebbach, and J. Guridi came on in place of I. Haga. However, the substitutions did not bring the desired result, Girona also made substitutions to maintain their energy level and defensive reliability. In the 65th minute, Porto was replaced by P. Torre, while Savio was replaced by Valeri. Both teams continued to make changes in an attempt to find a turning point or knock their opponents out. In the 73rd minute, Girona introduced I. Martin instead of J.E. Solis Romero, while Alaves released A. Gorosabel instead of A. Sola. Also S. Omorodion came on the pitch instead of C. Garcia. As the match progressed, Girona remained resolute and tried to increase their lead, while Alaves tried to find their rhythm. In the 78th minute Alaves made the last substitution: A. Blanco came on instead of C. Blanco. Blanco came on in place of C. Benavides. In response, Girona introduced J. Despite Alaves' efforts, Girona confidently played the match to the end, winning a well-deserved 3-0 victory. The result allowed Girona to move up the La Liga standings, while Alaves suffered another setback in their league campaign.
