Schick completed his hat-trick with a spectacular goal in the 45th minute, leaving Vfl Bochum in shock. The second half brought some changes to the game, with both teams making substitutions to freshen up the game. Just a minute after the break, Bochum replaced Takuma Asano with Danny T. Suarez, hoping to breathe life into their attack.

VfL Bochum tried to salvage their pride by making one last substitution, with Eduard Loewen replacing Noah Losli in the 69th minute. The match was nearing its end and both teams made one more substitution each to better control the game. In the 87th minute, Bochum replaced Anthony Losilla with Thomas Oermann, while Bayer Leverkusen replaced Florian Wirtz with Nadim Amiri. When the final whistle blew, Bayer Leverkusen had scored an impressive 4-0 victory over Bochum. It was a victory for the Leverkusen side that emphasised their superiority in this match. VfL Bochum must regroup and learn from this defeat in order to continue their Bundesliga campaign.
