Ukrainian goalkeepers Andriy Lunin (Real Madrid) and Anatoliy Trubin (Benfica) are having brilliant seasons in European championships, becoming the leading goalkeepers by two stats.
One of the most important indicators for goalkeepers is deflected shots. Andriy Lunin and Anatoliy Trubin are both in the top seven in terms of save percentage in the top seven leagues in Europe.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Lunin is seventh in this ranking with 83.3 per cent of deflected shots. And Benfica goalkeeper Trubin with 88.2% tops the list and is the best in this indicator.
Additionally, Trubin is second in PostShotXG per 90 minutes. To be clear, PostShotXG per flat shot evaluates the potential danger of any given attempt. This metric is the overall rate of all moments in which a goalie makes a save during the course of a match.
With an impressive save percentage of 88.2%, it's no surprise that Trubin has established himself as an impressive statistic with a 0.49. Interestingly, just behind the Benfica keeper is Lunin, who has a 0.44, according to statistics portal Opta.
Lunin has played in nine games for Real Madrid this season and has conceded six goals.
Trubin has played 18 games for Benfica this season in all official tournaments, 16 goals conceded.
