Newcastle's right-back Kieran Trippier commented on the team's 1-3 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the 19th round of the English Championship.
"We controlled the game in the first half, but we were well aware of their strength in transitioning from defence to attack. They have some very fast players and they caused us problems.
We were playing two matches a week, week in and week out, and some players weren't used to it. My level dropped. I'm an old enough player to speak for myself and my game was far from that level. I've faced enough setbacks in my career to know that I can bounce back," Kieran was quoted as saying by the BBC.
It should be noted that the Magpies have lost six of their last seven matches in all tournaments, crashing out of the Champions League and the FA Cup.
