One of the coaches of Kyiv's Dynamo U-16, Viktor Moroz, spoke about the autumn portion of his team’s performances in the Elite League of the UFL.
— Mr. Viktor, Dynamo U-16 won all ten matches in the first part of the season of the Elite League of the UFL and didn’t concede a single goal (and scored as many as 46 goals). What do you attribute such results to?
— The results of the autumn part of the season demonstrated that our team is moving in the right direction. The victories are the result of the entire team’s efforts. The guys worked hard at training, and they justly finished the year without losing points. Together with Serhii Bezhenar, we work with the U-16 team. Such results are also a reflection of the work of our coaching staff.
— Are you setting a goal for the team to finish the spring part of the season without conceding goals?
— No one will set such a goal for the guys, as anything can happen in football. It’s nice that we didn’t concede in the first part of the season, but every series eventually comes to an end. This achievement indicates the organization of our team’s play, but we were lucky in some moments. However, luck favors the strongest...
— How do you assess the competition in your group? Which opponents can you highlight?
— It’s nice that 40 teams are participating in the Elite League this season. However, it’s also important to consider the level of the teams’ readiness. There are opponents where our guys lack the opportunity to progress due to insufficient competition. For example, Veres conceded as many as 60 goals in our group... At the same time, there are several teams that provide a pleasure to play against. Matches with such opponents give our guys the chance to reach a new level in their development.
— Which match was the most memorable for your team? And which one are you dissatisfied with, even despite the victory?
— I don’t even want to play against weak opponents, as there is no benefit from these confrontations. I want to highlight the away match against Polissya. This match stood out to me the most. It was nice to play against an opponent that doesn't just defend but tries to combine. I cannot call the victory in Zhytomyr easy. We had all chances to even lose, but we still managed to achieve the desired result. I also want to highlight the confident play of our goalkeeper, Vladyslav Volodko.
— Which young players have made the most progress? The same Buravtsov, Kvykyviniya, Yermak among the top scorers - they scored a total of 25 goals. Probably, there are no issues with the squad in your team?
— Among the top scorers of the first part of the season, there are three of our players. Undoubtedly, we are pleased with the performance of the guys, but I wouldn’t single anyone out specifically. The team's results reflect the individual progress of each player. The selection process is ongoing. We are constantly searching for talented youth. The main goal of our work is to prepare players for the first team. This takes time.
It's nice that five players from our team, Yurii Moroz, were called up to the U-16 national team. This team convened only once, so the selection process is ongoing. Now the coaching staff is getting to know the players, and everyone can get their chance. There are no communication problems with Moroz. We played together; our views on football coincide. Yurii Leontiyovych attended our team’s matches throughout the season, watching the players.
— Who among the coaches is a role model for you, and what is your coaching philosophy?
— I wouldn’t want to highlight any specific coach. Every coach is a personality who tries to realize their potential. I like coaches who sometimes make decisions contrary to their experience and knowledge.
