29 December. 37 years ago, Igor Belanov won the Ballon d'Or

Today is special for several events in Dynamo's history.

On this day, former Dynamo midfielder Carlos Corea was born. The Brazilian midfielder played for the Kyiv club in the 2006-2012 seasons.

On this day in 1986, Dynamo's outstanding forward Igor Belanov was named the best footballer in Europe by France Football, receiving the Ballon d'Or. With 84 points, Belanov was ahead of the following legendary figures: Gary Lineker (62 points), Emilio Butragueno (59 points), Manuel Amoro (22 points), and Preben Elkier-Larsen (22 points).

The award was presented to Belanov on 18 March 1987 in Kyiv before the Champions Cup quarter-final match against Istanbul Beşiktaş.
