Oleksandr Holovko: "Ukrainian football is not about income. It is a toy, a prank of rich people"

Former Dynamo defender Oleksandr Holovko expressed his opinion on the work of a coach.

Alexander Golovko

"What is a coach? This is a person who is constantly working on himself and thinking. These are the two categories that will define a coach. If this person is capable of doing this and drawing conclusions, he or she is a coach. And what kind of coach he is does not depend 100% on him. How he or she may or may not conflict, how much trust the management has in him or her, how much influence he or she has on many things.

A coach is a dependent figure. Yes, he must have knowledge. But in Ukrainian clubs, when they invite you to work, they say: "Let's take it and see". That's how it works. But they don't know what they are going to look at. They come in and want me to train and sell all the young people in three months.

Some people understand, and some people don't, that modern Ukrainian football is not about income. It's just a toy, a prank of rich people. And we are just artists, directors of this theatre called football. I'm not worried about it. A person hires you. The question is what you want. If you want drama or comedy, you order it," Golovko said.
