Spanish side Betis, who had previously shown a substantial interest in Shakhtar centre-back Vitao, who returned home to play for Internacional after the start of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, are ready to refuse to sign the player.
"Betis contacted both Shakhtar and Internacional about Vitao. The Ukrainian club told the Spaniards that the defender was available for purchase in January for a relatively small compensation, but the Brazilians demanded €8 million for Vitao.
Vitao's contract with Shakhtar expires on 30 June 2024. Until that day, the defender has a temporary agreement with Internacional, drawn up on the basis of FIFA Annexe 7.
At the same time, the Brazilians have announced that they have already signed a full three-year contract with Vitao, which will come into force next summer. Shakhtar flatly deny this version, trying to get at least something out of the player's departure.
Be that as it may, Betis does not want to be involved in the chaos that has reigned around Vitao. The Spanish club has already turned its attention to another centre-back, 26-year-old Fluminense captain Nino, for whom his club is demanding €5 million.
