In the past year, the national team of Ukraine played nine matches, of which only one was a friendly at the level of national teams. Serhii Rebrov started his work with the Germans in June 2023 (in the spring, Ruslan Rotan temporarily acted as head coach), and the match ended in a draw (3:3).
It was one of the three world matches of the Ukrainian national team in 2023 with the giants. After that, Serhii Rebrov's team drew with England (1-1) and Italy (0-0), but these draws were not enough to qualify for the Euro 2024 final tournament.
Next year, Ukraine will try its hand at the play-offs again. First, our national team will play a match against Bosnia (away to Zenica on 21 March), and then on 26 March, the winner of our match will play the winner of the Israel-Iceland duel at home for the right to play in the Euros.

In 2023, three players made their debuts in the national team: 26 March - Oleksandr Svatok, 12 June - Vladyslav Vanat, 9 September - Yegor Nazarina.
Two coaches, Ruslan Rotan and Serhii Rebrov, also made their debuts. Both are former national team players, bringing the number of such cases to five (previously, Oleksii Mykhailichenko, Yurii Kalytvintsev and Andrii Shevchenko).
But the main trend of the year is the increase in the number of legionnaires and the expansion of geography. For the first time in the history of the Ukrainian national team, a player from a North American club played in its squad, where his partners are Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and recently Luis Suarez.
The third most capped player of the national team of Ukraine appeared in Brugge and Benfica, the second - in Arsenal, Chelsea and Westerlo.
Two Ukrainians started playing for Girona at once, with representatives of the following clubs making their debuts for our national team: "Bournemouth, Marseille, Krakow, Strasbourg, Genoa and Valencia.
Some of them (Oleksandr Zinchenko, Ruslan Malinowski, Yevhen Konoplyanka, Eduard Sobol, Roman Yaremchuk) have already represented other foreign clubs in the national team.
But for many, the status of a legionnaire in the Ukrainian national team is a completely new experience. These are Anatolii Trubin, Ilya Zabarnyi, Serhii Kryvtsov, Mykhailo Mudryk, Viktor Tsygankov, Serhii Sydorchuk, and Artem Dovbyk. The more players with extensive European experience at the disposal of coaches, the better, so this trend is a plus for the national team.
Among the domestic clubs, only Shakhtar (eight players), Dynamo (seven) and Dnipro-1 (three) provided personnel for the national team.
