The Ukrainian youth football team has signed a letter of appeal to French President Emmanuel Macron, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, French Sports Minister Amelie Oudea-Casteret and the organisers of the 2024 Olympic Games regarding the exclusion of Russian athletes from the competition.
In particular, the following players of the Ukraine U-21 national team, which qualified for the football tournament of the Olympics, signed their signatures: Mykhailo Mudryk, Ruslan Nesheret, Oleksandr Sirota, Maksym Taloverov, Ivan Zhelyzko, Oleksiy Sych, Bohdan Vyunnyk, Konstantin Vivcharenko, Daniil Sikan, Vladyslav Vanat, Anatoliy Trubin, Oleksandr Nazarenko, Maxim Bragaru, Vladimir Brazhko, Dmytro Kryskiv, Oleg Ocheretko, Georgiy Sudakov, Kyrylo Fesiun, Kyrylo Sigeev, Daniil Alefirenko, Mykola Mykhailenko, as well as other players and coaching staff of the team.
The letter of appeal was also signed by the administrator of the Ukrainian youth team, Oleksandr Shushura.
This letter highlights that already some "neutral" Russian athletes who have received licences for the Olympic Games, in particular Vladislav Larin, Zaurbek Sidakov and Zaur Uguyev, as well as a number of those close to qualifying for the Olympic Games are actually supporting the war.
This letter has already been signed by Yaroslava Maguchikh, Olena Bilosiuk, Vladyslav Heraskevych, Oleg Verniaev and dozens of Ukrainian athletes.
