Forward of Zhytomyr's Polissia Beni Makuana recalled how he made the decision to join his current club and assessed the level of the Ukrainian championship.
"Of course, I heard about Russia's attack on Ukraine. So, when the Zhytomyr club made an official offer, I took a long pause to weigh everything up. The support of my family and my acquaintance with Polissya were decisive. I talked to the club's president, saw the facilities being built, the stadiums that have already been created and the ones the club is starting to build. It was all impressive and underlined what a serious project Polissia football club is. So, in the end, I accepted the invitation to join this club and I still consider it the right decision.
You see, I saw this invitation as an opportunity. After all, I missed six months after my injury, I was without playing practice. And Polissia, knowing this, made me an offer without any doubts and assured me that they knew how to develop my potential. My decision was not spontaneous, I thought it through. I learnt a lot about myself, about this club, the president, the head coach. I knew the players here, what Kalytvintsev, the European champion at the helm of the Ukrainian youth team and the former head coach of your national team, had achieved.
For me, Polissia is a chance to restart my own career after my injury. The UPL is very suitable for me to re-establish myself here, because, in my opinion, the Ukrainian championship is among the top 10 in Europe, and I have no doubt that in its best years it could well have been in the top 5. A place alongside the best leagues in the world," Ukrainian Football quoted Macuana as saying.
