Former Dynamo Kyiv and Ukraine national team defender Vladyslav Vashchuk, who is now serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, has spoken out on the topic of mobilisation.

Vladyslav Vashchuk

"Look, if the Russians came, they would mobilise everyone. Everyone! They would make an army, grab everyone, and those who would squeak "I can't". Everyone would fight. You have to win, you have to do everything to win. If you want to win, you see, you have a desire for your child's future, then you have to go and move towards victory.

Don't be afraid that you will be found somewhere, dragged somewhere. Go to the military enlistment office and say, "I want to, I want to learn." Everyone thinks that today they grab us, take us there and, so to speak, "go ahead and fight". There is no such thing. Everybody is learning. Everybody gets some kind of education with a machine gun if you want it.

Here I wanted to, and I'm moving in that direction. I want to help in whatever way I can. And I can see that we need people in Sick Bay. There's not enough of us to help everybody. We're going in that direction. And people see it, they come to us. You don't have to wait to be led by the hand - go yourself," Vashchuk said on the air of the DW Ukrayinskoi Youtube channel.
