Karpaty players have returned from holiday and started preparations for the spring part of the Ukrainian premier league championship. Head coach Myron Markevych spoke about the plans of the Green-Whites for the off-season:
- Unfortunately, there is still uncertainty. There are still no specifics. At the regional level, everyone supports our desire to play in tournaments in Spain (February), Turkey (March), but the relevant ministry is slow to grant permission to travel abroad. Although we have provided all the necessary documents confirming our participation in international tournaments, in particular, in Spain we have to play with Norwegian "Sogndal", Estonian "Levadia", La Liga clubs - "Valencia" and "Villarreal". Moreover, these matches will be televised and Karpaty will donate all the money earned to the VSU.
- What can explain such indecision of the relevant ministry?
- The fact that only UPL clubs have the right to travel abroad. As if those guys who play in the First League are not Ukrainians. Especially since we guarantee that all Karpaty players will return to their homeland. After all, Karpaty, who are leading in the First League, are now successfully passing the certification required to play in the Premier League.
- How long can Karpaty still wait for the final verdict of the relevant ministry?
- Our FC has already paid the air tickets for 9 February to Valencia, we have booked a hotel. However, the tournament organisers cannot wait until the last day, they already need specifics: whether Karpaty will come or not. I think that we still have 3-4 days in reserve. I really hope that common sense will prevail.
