Former Everton head coach Frank Lampard has criticised the owner of the Merseyside club, Farhad Moshiri.
"I'm not quite sure why it happened. I came to the club when Moshiri had been the owner for four or five years. During this time, five coaches have changed: Marc Silva, Roberto Martinez, Carlo Ancelotti, Rafa Benitez and Big Sam. These are top-level coaches.
I could see from the squad I got that they had no strategy. This happens in football clubs. New coaches come in and want to move in a different direction, but you need a strategy or an understanding of what you want to achieve. I wasn't sure about that.
We talked a lot about how I wanted to coach the team. I had ideas, but I needed the right selection of players to do it, because right now I can't make this team the way I want it to be. We managed to avoid relegation, and it was a great experience for me in a difficult moment.
But as for the ideas of the club, I wasn't sure. I don't want this to sound negative about Moshiri or the people who made the decisions in those years because I'm sure they bought Everton to turn it into a great and successful club," Lampard told Sky Bet.
