Briefing. Andriy Shevchenko: "Our team is already ready to work" (VIDEO)

As previously reported, on Thursday, 25 January, an extraordinary UAF Congress was held in Kiev, where Andriy Shevchenko was elected as the new president of the organisation. Immediately after the event, the newly-elected head of Ukrainian football gave a short briefing for media representatives at the House of Football.

- I realise how much responsibility I have now. We have very big tasks before us. First of all, to do everything to ensure that football in Ukraine develops. Developed in such very difficult conditions, when there is a full-scale war. We must do everything to fulfil this task. We must prepare our national team, our Olympic team, futsal and women's football teams. All these areas are very important.

And it is very important for us to be transparent. So there will be an audit.

Our team is already ready to work. I have announced the Assembly of Regions. I plan that at this assembly we will talk a lot about grassroots football. So we will work, we will move forward.

- Who from your team will be ultimately responsible for solving smaller problems, which are also many in our football? We are talking about children's football, and the moments that "smell" of corruption?

- It all has to be solved by the system, and our task is to build this system now. And I would not say that children's football and amateur football are minor problems - they are very important areas. I believe that one of the main directions of any football association is the development of amateur football.

Now the first thing that needs to be done is an audit. An audit that is affordable.

I have to apologise to you and finish our communication now, because my colleagues are waiting for me - it is necessary to hold a meeting of the Executive Committee. But I am open to communication, as I have always been, and so we will definitely find time for a more substantive dialogue in the near future. Thank you!
