Renowned Ukrainian coach Serhiy Kovalets recounted how he once worked with Serhiy Rozhok at Obolon in Kyiv.
"I remember Rozhok as a very positive and intelligent person with a great sense of humour. He was always calm and balanced, I never had any problems with him. As a player, Rozhok was very cunning - a true leader of Obolon, both in the dressing room and on the pitch. Serhii is a lefty, he had a good shot and pass.
Was I surprised to learn that Rozhok had joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces? I found out the day before yesterday when I read about his death. To be honest, I didn't know he was fighting. There is a lot of press coverage about Aliyev and Vashchuk, but I have never seen anything about Rozhok.
I express my condolences to Serhiy's family and friends, he died defending our independence. Serhiy is a true hero of Ukraine, like all soldiers. May he rest in peace. May he rest in peace," Kovalets said.
