Liverpool's sporting director Jörg Schmidtke will leave the club at the close of the winter transfer window, according to the official website of the Merseysiders.
The news comes after the unexpected announcement of Jurgen Klopp's decision to leave Anfield at the end of this season.
Schmadtke joined Liverpool only last summer, having previously worked at Wolfsburg, Cologne and Hannover. He has been credited with playing a crucial role in the transfers of players such as Wataru Endo, Ryan Gravenberger and Dominic Soboslai.
