Former Dynamo Kyiv coach Jozsef Szabo explained why Metalist 1925 signed Denys Harmash.

- Will Garmash fit in with Skrypnyk's performance in Metalist 1925?

- It's hard to say, because Garmash is already 33 years old. It seems to me that he should retire, since his career is developing in such a way. He is a good footballer and if he gains physical condition and works hard, then maybe he will be able to play some more. But he needs good partners to support him, and Metalist 1925 is a young club that is just developing.

I remember Garmash well in his youth, when I was in charge of Dynamo. Denys worked from the penalty spot to the penalty spot, he was good in the selection. This is his main advantage. But I am not sure that he will be able to do this in the Kharkiv club. Garmash needs to be brought into good condition. We will see what happens.

- Garmash is an attacking midfielder, but Lucescu and Shovkovskyi sometimes used him as a forward. What position will he play in Metalist 1925?

- Playing a gunner as a forward is nonsense on Lucescu's part. The Romanian simply had a hopeless situation when Dynamo had no strikers left. Garmash, in a good way, is a football cheeky guy. Denis works hard, is good in the selection and can close any hole if necessary, but his native position is midfielder, he is not a forward.

- Why do you think he failed in Osijek?

- I thought about it a lot. Apparently, he did not find a common language with the coach and teammates.

- Is Metalist 1925 the end of Garmash's career or will he still make some noise in the current UPL?

- I don't think he'll be able to make any more noise. Anyway, the years take their toll. And today, psychology plays an even bigger role, because there is a war going on, matches are interrupted because of anxiety, and all this puts pressure on the psyche. It will be difficult for Garmash at this age to prove himself in our championship.

I don't understand why he left Dynamo at all. He could have played quietly in Kyiv, and then he would have gone for a coaching job. Let's see what Skrypnyk can squeeze out of him.

- Garmash often earned sending offs and also played as a forward, so the question arises: what will happen faster - will he score a goal or get a red card?

- I hope he scores. Denys often received red and yellow cards. At Dynamo, he had behavioural problems, and after infringements he would constantly contradict the referees. But the man has matured and I hope he understands everything. I kept telling him: "Don't talk to the referees! If the referee has whistled a violation, he will not change his mind." There was no HAC at the time.

But I want to note that Garmash is a good man. Let me tell you about one case. Denys is Petrakov's pupil, he started playing for him at RVUFC Kyiv. Petrakov once told me that when he was unemployed and Garmash was already playing for Dynamo, Denys helped him with money.
