Dovbyk has a meniscus injury

Former Rukh Lviv doctor Dmytro Babeliuk spoke in detail about the injury of the Ukrainian striker of Spanish side Girona Artem Dovbyk.

Артем Довбик

"Dovbyk has a meniscus injury!

According to journalists involved with Girona, Artem injured his knee the day before, during one of the team's training sessions.

The first tests confirmed the injury to the meniscus of the knee joint. According to the initial forecasts, the injury seemed serious and the player was expected to be out for the rest of the season, with a potential miss of the start of Euro 2024.

According to the latest information from journalist Neil Sola, in-depth testing has shown that the injury is not so serious.

I would like to remind you that there are 3 degrees of damage to the meniscus:

- Grade 1 - mild tear, conservative treatment - from several weeks to 2 months.

- Grade 2 - both conservative and surgical treatment is possible.

- Grade 3 - always surgery.

In the case of surgical interventions, if part or all of the meniscus is removed, recovery takes about 1-2 months. If the meniscus is sutured, it can take up to 3-4 months.

Either way, a meniscus injury is a serious problem.

We are waiting for more details and keep our fingers crossed for Artem that everything will work out," Babeliuk wrote on his Telegram channel.
