UEFA has officially allowed the Scottish national team to use bagpipes at Euro 2024 matches, Novosti.live reports citing ESPN.
Musical instruments at stadiums were banned after the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, when nothing could be heard in the stadiums through the vuvuzelas. Since then, stadiums have been banned from carrying any "mechanical devices that produce sounds". However, as it turned out, the ban does not apply to bagpipes.
"Fans can bring instruments to the stadium, but they will have to register them with their national associations, which will be responsible for centralising fan activities at the stadium," UEFA said.
