Areola received a yellow card in the 38th minute. The game escalated further when Arsenal were awarded a penalty in the 41st minute, which was accurately converted by B. Saka. A few minutes later, Gabriel shot into the far corner, increasing Arsenal's lead. In the final minutes of the first half, L. Trossard scored another goal for Arsenal, and West Ham were left in the minority. At half-time, West Ham made two substitutions, releasing E. Alvarez and K. Zouma, trying to turn the tide of the match. However, Arsenal continued to dominate the second half.
In the 63rd minute, B. Saka scored his second goal of the match, further increasing Arsenal's lead, and in the 66th minute D. Rice also scored, leaving West Ham completely demoralised. Arsenal quickly made three substitutions: D. Rice was replaced by M. Elneny, B. Saka made way for R. Nelson and L. Trossard made way for E. Nketiah. West Ham's frustration manifested itself in the form of a yellow card for M. Kudus in the 76th minute. They made one last substitution, replacing Emerson with A. Cresswell in an attempt to salvage some pride. In response, Arsenal introduced B. White and Cedric respectively for the last 13 minutes of the game. To further consolidate their advantage, G. Martinelli came on in place of E. Nwaneri. The match ended with the last yellow card for West Ham player K. Phillips in the 90th minute, which was even more offensive. Overall, the match between West Ham and Arsenal was a one-sided affair and Arsenal came out of it the clear winner. The result highlighted Arsenal's attacking prowess and West Ham's weak defence. The Premier League meeting at the London Stadium will surely be remembered as a game in which Arsenal dominated from start to finish.
