Italian Genoa head coach Alberto Gilardino explained why Ukrainian midfielder Ruslana Malinovskyi was left in the reserves for today's Italian league match against Napoli (1-1). In this meeting, the Ukrainian appeared on the field only in the 75th minute of the game.
"It was not easy to determine the composition for this game, because it was not easy to leave in reserve such important players as Malinovskyi, who scored a goal to Atalanta in the previous match. I have to make a choice, depending on the specifics of the opponent and the chosen tactics for the match. The general idea is that players must be ready to sacrifice themselves to achieve the team's goals," - said Gilardino after the match with Napoli.
Recall, Malinovsky moved to Genoa in mid-August on loan from French side Marseille. Since then, the midfielder has taken part in 24 matches of his current team and in his asset three goals and two assists.
