Mykola Nesenyuk: "The Premier League is starting to get smarter"

The well-known journalist Mykola Nesenyuk spoke about some changes in the calendar of the current Ukrainian championship on the eve of the matches of the national team of Ukraine.

Mykola Neseniuk

"Do you remember the story about the Odesa resident who was jealous of his very smart neighbour?

- 'Tell me, why are you Jews all so smart?

- Because we eat special fish every day. I can sell a kilo of it for a hundred rubles.

- Come on!

The next day:

- You lied to me - the fish is exactly the same at Privoz for a ruble a kilo!

- You see, you're already starting to get smart!

I remembered this old joke when I learned that the Ukrainian Premier League had postponed three matches of the 21st round of the Ukrainian championship between Shakhtar, Dynamo and Dnipro from Saturday 16 March to Tuesday 12 March.

This was not the case before: every time in early March, before the national team's matches, the national team coaches asked to postpone the last round of the championship "for later" in the interests of better preparing the national team for important matches. It remained a mystery why they did not foresee this in advance and not schedule the championship games on dates that were "inconvenient" for the national team so that they would not have to be postponed?

This time, our Premier League did something different - it postponed the games of the teams where the national team candidates play from Saturday to Tuesday. I don't know if someone fed our football leaders special fish beforehand, but their actions look much more reasonable than before. You may note that such a postponement would not have been possible if Shakhtar had reached the last 16 of the Europa League. My answer is that the fact that Shakhtar would lose to Marseille was clear to anyone who knew a little bit about football back in December last year, without any additional fish.

Given the obvious satisfaction with the Premier League's unexpectedly sensible actions, the question arises: why hold additional training camps for the national team at all, when most of its main players - Trubin, Lunin, Zabarnyi, Mykolenko, Zinchenko, Yaremchuk, Dovbyk, Malinowski, Tsygankov, Mudryk, Sydorchuk - will not arrive in advance, when they play in championships where the rounds are not postponed at the last minute for the sake of the national team's "interests"? The answer is obvious - our football leaders have just started to get smarter! We need to wait a little longer!" Neseniuk wrote on his Facebook page.
