The International Football Federation (FIFA) has released all the data on the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup: details of team qualification, dates and format of the tournament.

In 2025, the FIFA Club World Cup will be held for the first time. It will involve 32 clubs from UEFA, AFC, CAF, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL and OFC. The new competition will be called the Mundial de Clubes FIFA.

The host

The United States of America will be the first host of the new FIFA club tournament.

Dates.

The competition will take place from 15 June to 13 July 2025.

Number of teams and qualification rules

The tournament will feature 32 teams, the number of which is divided between international football confederations.

CAF (Africa ) - four teams (three through the CAF Champions League and one through the CAF rankings).

AFC (Asia ) - four teams (three through the AFC Champions League and one through the AFC rankings).

UEFA (Europe ) - 12 teams (four through the UEFA Champions League and eight through the UEFA rankings).

CONCACAF (North and Central America, Caribbean ) - four teams (all through the CONCACAF Champions Cup).

OFC (Oceania ) - one team (through the OFC rankings).

CONMEBOL (South America ) - six teams (four through the Libertadores Cup and two through the CONMEBOL rankings).

The hostcountry - one team.

Teams that have already qualified for the 2025 FIFA World Cup

19 teams have already qualified.

CAF (Africa ) - Al-Ahly (Egypt), Widad (Morocco).

AFC (Asia ) - Al Hilal (Saudi Arabia), Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan).

UEFA (Europe ) - Chelsea (England), Real Madrid (Spain), Manchester City (England), Bayern Munich (Germany), PSG (France), Inter Milan (Italy), Porto (Portugal), Benfica (Portugal).

CONCACAF (North and Central America, Caribbean ) - Monterrey (Mexico), Seattle Sounders (USA), Leon (Mexico).

OFC (Oceania ) - Auckland City (New Zealand).

CONMEBOL (South America ) - Palmeiras (Brazil), Flamengo (Brazil), Fluminense (Brazil).

The 13 vacant places will be filled as follows:

CAF(Africa ) - CAF Champions League 2023/2024 and the CAF ranking pathway.

AFC (Asia ) - AFC Champions League 2023/2024 and the AFC ranking path.

UEFA (Europe ) - UEFA Champions League 2023/2024 and UEFA ranking path (three teams).

CONCACAF (North and Central America, Caribbean ) - CONCACAF Champions Cup 2024.

CONMEBOL (South America ) - Libertadores Cup 2024 and the CONMEBOL ranking path (two teams).

The hostcountry is one team.

Other qualification criteria that apply

In case a club wins two or more major tournaments of any confederation during the period 2021-2024, the ranking path will be used to grant the right to participate in the tournament.

The number of clubs from the same country will be limited to two, unless more than two clubs from the same country win the main club tournament of any confederation over a four-year period.

Format of the 2025 FIFA World Cup

In the group stage, participants will be divided into eight groups of four teams each.

The matches will be held in a single-round robin system.

The two best teams from the group advance to the 1/8 finals.

Butt playoffs from the 1/8 finals to the final match.

There is no match for third place.
