In a tight and tense La Liga match between Mallorca and Girona, Mallorca claimed a 1-0 victory at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix, with the only goal of the match coming in the 33rd minute when Mallorca's J. Copete headed the ball into the net, giving his team the lead before the break. Mallorca had several chances to increase their lead throughout the match, but the Girona defence held firm, not allowing their opponents to take the lead. The match was not without drama as both teams received several yellow cards for various offences.
Mallorca players M. Valient and O. Mascarell, as well as Girona's Micheal, got into the referee's notebook in the course of the game. Several substitutions were made by both teams in an attempt to change the course of the match. Mallorca brought on players such as A. Sanchez, N. Vidal, K. Larin and D. Rodriguez to try and maintain their advantage, while Girona brought on I. Martin, Porto, J.E. Solis Romero and K. Stuani in an attempt to level the score. In the end, Mallorca managed to hold a slim lead and win all three points in front of their home fans. The victory allowed Mallorca to move up the La Liga standings, while Girona will be disappointed that they left the pitch empty-handed.
