Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih midfielder Hrvoje Ilić shared his thoughts on the away match of the Ukrainian Premier League matchday 19 against Shakhtar Donetsk.
"We started very poorly. "Shakhtar had the initiative and scored a quick goal. After that, we seemed to seize the initiative and created some good chances to equalise. But the second goal broke the game somewhat. Their player was lying on the pitch, we approached him, but the opponent quickly played the ball. It's strange that this goal was disallowed, to be honest.
As for the episode with the red card, yes, I understand that I hit my opponent in the leg, but I think it was a yellow card. I didn't play on purpose and didn't play so rudely that I should be sent off. I understand that I let the team down. With the score 2-1, we had a chance for a comeback and time to win back. I want to apologise to the team and all our fans. I hope they will support me.
It is impossible to win every match. This is football. Today, Shakhtar took three points, but in the next matches, as always, we will continue to play only for victory. I hope that this defeat will only help us in this and we will become stronger," Ilich was quoted as saying by Kryvbas' official website.
