Famous French footballer Franck Lebeuf has harshly criticised Al Nasr's Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo for his opinion on the French championship.
"It annoys me when I hear Cristiano Ronaldo saying that the Saudi Arabian championship is better than Ligue 1. Why do you think he chose to say such a thing specifically about Ligue 1 and not the Portuguese championship? Because Lionel Messi played in Ligue 1. I have a lot of respect for Ronaldo as a player, but come on, just shut up! It's not fair to Ligue 1.
For me, the Portuguese national team is actually one of the main contenders to win Euro 2024 next summer. I do think they can win the tournament, but only if Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't play.
Ronaldo has done a lot for football, you can't take that away from him, even though he left to finish playing in the Saudi Arabian championship. I want to thank him for taking the sport to the next level, but everything has an end. Cristiano has every right to play in Saudi Arabia, but I'm not sure about the fact that he needed more money," Lebeph is quoted by Football365.com.
