Serhiy Shebek: "A teacher earns 10-15 thousand per month, while football referees get 40 thousand per game"

Former FIFA referee Serhiy Shebek commented on the UAF's intention to introduce a draw for referees at Ukrainian championship matches.

- This innovation is positive, but there is a nuance. During the draw for a particular match, balls with the names of all 20 referees should not be thrown into the baskets, because not all of them are experienced. For example, Dynamo plays Shakhtar, and by the will of the draw, this match will be refereed by an unexperienced referee who can ruin the game. For such matches, not all referees should be involved in the draw, but only the five or six most experienced and strongest.

Should Ukrainian referees be paid more so that they judge more honestly? No, they shouldn't, because they are very well paid. Whereas a teacher earns 10-15 thousand hryvnias a month, football referees get 40 thousand hryvnias per game, and their assistants get 20 thousand! Is this a lot of money in a time of war? With such fees, you can't judge fairly," Expres quotes Shebek as saying.
