Former Manchester United mentor Ole Gunnar Sulsher has said the club's decision to sign Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo was a mistake.
"At United they asked me: 'Do you want us to try and sign Ronaldo?' I said: "Yes, we know Cristiano is a quality footballer, he's 37 years old, but we have to manage - he's the best striker in the world. In the end it didn't work out for me or Cristiano, but at the time - it was the right decision.
We were one of the most pressing teams before we formalised Ronaldo's transfer. That said, the club let Dan James go when Cristiano came in. It seemed to be the right decision, but in the end it was the wrong one," Sulsher is quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
