Former Oleksandriya head coach Yuriy Gura shared his opinion on how the list of players called up to the Ukraine national team camp for the March matches turned out to be.
Yuri Gura- As of today, Serhiy Rebrov has formed the most optimal squad, choosing from all possible candidates. It is only a pity that several key players of the national team, the same Yarmolenko and Stepanenko, will not be able to help it in the near future.
- Do you think Serhiy Sidorchuk or Volodymyr Brazhko can adequately replace Stepanenko?
- I will say this: they will have to replace her. However, no matter how it is, Stepanenko is a veteran of the Ukraine national team and we still need to look for fresh blood for his position. I think Brazhko needs to readjust and get used to the fact that he will have to play for the national team.
As for the match with Bosnia and Herzegovina, I think that Rebrov will still prefer a player with experience - Sidorchuk.
- How serious an opponent do you see the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is considered by many to be a team of two players - Miralem Pjanic and Edin Dzeko?
- Bosnians are representatives of the former Yugoslavia, which has always been famous for its football talents. Almost all Bosnian players play at a fairly high level, so underestimating them is out of the question. The Bosnia and Herzegovina national team is a balanced team. The national team has strong sides - aggressive play in attack and reliable actions in defence.
I am sure that there will be no easy walk in Zenica. Our guys need to approach the game with a cold head and a hot heart. As for Pjanic and Dzeko, I think their best days are behind them. These players are a couple of 70 years old, as it were, and age takes its toll. Not everything in the Bosnian game depends only on them.
