The former England international completed his surprise move to Asia in February after spending several months as a free agent. Lingard signed a two-year contract with the South Korean club.

The 31-year-old's move caused quite a stir. On the eve of his home debut, The Athletic reports how fans queued around the block to buy a Lingard shirt, while the club shop only sold shirts with the Englishman's number ten on them.

It is also noted that tickets for FC Seoul's away match against Gwangju were sold out in two minutes and 30 seconds, and the average attendance of FC Seoul is already more than double that of last season. The club has also enjoyed a strong following on social media, becoming the first Korean club to have over 100,000 subscribers on YouTube.
