Freiburg head coach Christian Streich will leave the club at the end of this season. The current contract of the coach expires in the summer and the parties do not plan to extend it.
"I have been thinking about this for a long time. We talked for a long time. It was always very, very important for me not to miss the moment when it was time to leave. This club is my life. I am extremely grateful for the huge support and affection I have always received," Streich said in a statement on Freiburg's website.
Since 1995, Streich has been working with the youth team, and in 2007 he was promoted to assistant head coach of the first team. And since December 2011, Streich has been the head coach of Freiburg.
