Former Dynamo Kyiv midfielder and now a well-known Ukrainian coach Serhiy Kovalets did not support the recent decision of the management of Zhytomyr Polesie to sack the team's head coach Yuriy Kalitvintsev.
"I was at the game "Polesie" with "Alexandria" (1:2) in Zhytomyr, after which the decision was made to dismiss Yuri Kalitvintsev as head coach of the home team. I will express my personal opinion on this matter. Kalitvintsev did a good job, leading the team to the Premier League and reaching the semi-finals of the Ukrainian Cup. It seems to me that he should have been given time to work at least until the end of the season.
Speaking about the game of "Polesya" on the already mentioned match with Alexandrians it was obvious that Zhytomyr team lacked emotions.
As for the game Obolon vs Polesie (1:0), the Kyivians played this match quite powerfully. Just as they did in several previous games - against Chornomorets and Kryvbas. If Obolon had scored one more goal at 1-0, it would have been even more difficult for the guests. I think that Chobotenko's suspension already in the second minute of the match to some extent influenced the game "Polesya", but again I will say: the Kyiv team showed an aggressive game and desire to win. For this purpose, the hosts ran less into the attack, even when playing in the majority," UA-Football quoted Kovalets as saying.
