Vyacheslav Zakhovaylo: "The missed goal is on Mikolenko's conscience. And the game was saved by luck"

Well-known manager and expert Vyacheslav Zakhovailo shared his impressions of yesterday's semi-final play-off match of the Euro 2024 qualifying round between the national teams of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ukraine (1:2).

"The task has been fulfilled. With what I congratulate all of us.

But... I won't lie. Ukraine, and even more so the Bosnians, did not win. The game was equal, two shits played. Crampy football played by two teams.

The initial plan of Serhiy Stanislavovich (Serhiy Rebrov - head coach of the Ukraine national team - editor's note) did not work. We were very slow on the ball. There was no intensity, the ball, as experts say, did not go. It is clear that the Bosnians played in a deep block, not giving space. But who didn't expect that?

The missed goal is on Mikolenko's conscience. Positional error. Instead of facing the player in possession, he started to run into the penalty area for unknown reasons.

Fate saved the game. A successful substitution and rearrangement of the game structure. And that is to Rebrov's credit. Yaremchuk is the hero of the match.

I am sure that conclusions will be drawn. We need to work well on the recovery of players. I believe in the team and Rebrov. Happy victory to all of us!", - Zakhovailo wrote on his Facebook page.
