Adrian Pukanych: "Rebrov's substitutions played a decisive role"

Former Ukraine midfielder Adrian Pukanych shared his impressions of the semi-final play-off match of the Euro 2024 qualifying round Bosnia and Herzegovina - Ukraine (1:2).

"They say that the score remains, the game is forgotten. But we can't do without a detailed analysis of the events in Zenica, because the Ukrainians failed to do a lot of things, especially in the transition to offensive operations.

It is not excluded that they overestimated their strengths, saying that the victory will not go anywhere anyway. However, we should give credit to the Balkans, who studied the game of our national team, adopting the tactical scheme 3-5-2, for which they were not quite ready.

The situation on the pitch changed dramatically only after the substitutions made by Sergei Rebrov in the middle of the second half. Roman Yaremchuk came on the pitch and scored and made an effective pass.

Did our team win the game? After all, with the score 1-0 in favour of the Bosnians, they had several more opportunities to score. However, this is already history. The main thing now is not to repeat the mistakes that nearly derailed our current international campaign in the decisive game against Iceland," Sport.ua quoted Pukanych as saying.
